Eligibility for funding

The first step to applying for funding under the Strata Resilience Program is confirming that you meet the eligibility criteria. When you start your application, you will need to provide evidence to support your eligibility.

Check your eligibility on this page and then find out how to apply.

Body corporate requirements

To be eligible to apply, the body corporate must:

  • have participated in the Strata Title Inspection Program and have a copy of the report provided by James Cook University – Cyclone Testing Station
  • have a nominated person to act on behalf of the body corporate as a single point of contact for the program
  • be located in a cyclone risk area (in the area from 100 kilometres of the coastline from Rockhampton, north to the Torres Strait and west to the Queensland/Northern Territory border)
  • confirm that they have adequate funds to meet co-contribution requirements.

Eligible resilience strategies

Your property-specific inspection program report must identify specific improvement works eligible under the Strata Resilience Program.

Cyclone resilience improvement works covered by the program include:

Ineligible types of works

Works that aren’t eligible for funding include:

  • renovations, extensions or new structures
  • works to structures or buildings that aren’t deemed compliant structures
  • maintenance works
  • works to external structures or fencing
  • removal of trees
  • wall cladding
  • repair of pre-existing damage.

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but a guide only. Contact us on (07) 3007 4485 (option 3) or at strataresilience@epw.qld.gov.au to discuss your specific circumstances.

Additionally, you can’t use program funding in conjunction with current insurance claims. You can apply for funding only for resilience strategies not covered by an insurance claim.

Timeframe

After we receive the application, it may take approximately 1 month to assess the body corporate’s eligibility, inspect the work requested and confirm the outcome via email.
